After all of the nonsense of the political season, I just finished a nonsense poem of my own. Though it is nonsensical, there is a moral to the tale.
Please have a good time with it, and enjoy your Thursday,
Jake.
Gertrude And Franny
Gertrude the gator
and Franny the frog,
decided one day
to get away from the bog.
“Now hop on my back,
Come, get off of your log,
we’re going to the land
of the cat and the dog.”
“Let us leave right now
while we’re covered by fog.”
So said, Gertrude the gator
to Franny the frog.
*
They travelled all night
and they rested all day,
happy as clams
to be far away,
from the log and the bog,
and that turtle named Ray.
While they waited for rain
from clouds, dark and grey,
for they needed some water
and not just for play.
For amphibians they were
and funny, that way.
*
Well, no rain came along
and their skin became dry,
disappointed were they
but, proud of their try.
So they turned around
and they bid a goodbye,
to the dirt and the dust
and the sun in the sky,
and went back to the bog
where their future did lie.
With a turtle named Ray,
but, no tears did they cry.
*
Now, their story it seems
has a moral to tell.
That when the land of the others
looks perfect and swell,
sure, it’s okay to visit
for just a short spell,
but, it’s not always the best place
that you’d want to dwell.
So, no matter the appearance,
when you are home, all is well!
