Some questions that I’m sure most, if not all, of us could ask ourselves as we pass through the stages of life. And to those of us who have passed through more than just a few, I think you will enjoy it more than the others..
Enjoy the life you are given, because unless you believe in reincarnation, there is only this one.
Jake.
Questions Of A Lifetime
If I could but choose
to revisit again
these days of my now
or those days of my then
would I opt for the present
or wish for back when?
Would I be any different
person or friend
if I chose to return
to my youth once again?
*
Or should I choose to remain
as I am today
with the benefits of age,
though my hair’s turned to gray,
but where the follies of youth
are now long stored away?
Where I’m at least guaranteed
to survive to this day
and I am what I am
which ain’t bad by the way!
*
So, you see my dilemma
in which I should choose
is there much to be gained
or just more to lose?
Would there be any benefit
after paying these dues
to start it all over
to rewrite yesterday’s news?
Or just rejoice in the now
with my cynical views?

This poem, Jake, reflects many of my thoughts, questions and ponderings (btw I love that word). Very well put!
Thanks Denise it is probably a common thought that the elders consider. If I could would I do it all over? Most folks I know say that they are glad that they don’t have to face what today’s young people will have to experience.
I agree. Young people today have a lot more to deal with than I did growing up in the 1960s and 1970s.
They have so much more technology than we had and yet sadly they have so much less parental oversight and our government seems to see fit to take God out of everything so the moral structure is deteriorating as well. If you ask a young person today about history, English grammar, spelling and the like they really are lost, but ask them about a movie star, a TV show or a video game and they are all over it. Technology may be the root cause of the dumbing down of America as ironic as that may sound.
I’m sorry Audrey, I mixed up the comments from you and another of my blogging friends, that is why I mentioned the name Denise in my reply.
