A Speck Of Dust

A Speck Of Dust

As the Earth revolves around the sun

and as the universe expands

where do we fit in the scheme of things

are we but like, a grain of sand?

Shifting with the wind and tide

insignificant when each alone

and only when the masses join

do we feel at last at home?

The minutia of our own existence

sometimes betrays our trust

while thinking greater than we are

and yet, we form the earthly crust.

  1. “and only when the masses join do we feel at last at home…” I like that a lot.
