Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day

Oh, it seems now the big thing on Veteran’s Day

are the sales of those cars used and new

oh yes, the vet will be mentioned at six o’clock

with maybe still a parade or two.

And yes, there’ll be flags placed on the graves

of those vets whose lives are through.

You see, the veterans of wars of decades past

are now fading from our view.

But, let us too remember the veteran

of the current and recent times

who swore to this nation their oath to serve

so Freedom’s Bell still chimes.

But, not everyone a battle saw

nor wore medals in many a row

but every one yet a hero still

because they had the guts to go.
