As sure as St. Patrick

drove out the snakes

far from

the Emerald Isle,

an Irish lass

will raise up her glass

and warm you

with her smile.

And while an Irish lad

can sing a song so sad

you’ll be weepin’

for a long, long while.

Still, there ’tis no other

like an Irish mother

who even the saints

doth beguile.
