Though my muse has been on an extended hiatus, I have been able to occasionally scratch one out on my own. This is one that will require some interpretation on your part. I do hope it will give you pause to reflect on our societal positions.

The Day Is Fast Upon Us
What can I say to convince you
that we are a dying breed?
We’ve given up our souls for goods
as our hearts filled up with greed.
Our faith is gone from school and law
and to the godless we now cede.
Yet, He told us of this coming day,
but, did His words we heed?
No, my friends, we listened not
for there was then, of course, no need.
We had the things that pleasured us
and chose the ‘golden calf’ indeed.

He spoke to us in parable
as in relation to the seed.
When strewn upon the good ground
it grows to gives us feed.
And how, when it falls upon stone and sand
produces naught but weed.
You see, our idols are now, but flesh and bone
and sputter a godless creed,
sitting there in their ivory tower
while we, their subjects, bleed.
I say to you now, “that they are false,
dethrone them with great speed!”
For the day is fast upon us
when the tide will not recede,
and we will cry to Him to help
but, He’ll not be there, to lead.
As we have pushed Him far away
by lawful act and deed!

I am pondering this one this morning and think I will need to come back to re read after my coffee kicks in. Very weighty stuff to think about this morning, Jake!
Have two cups then… Our current “leaders” are listening to the vocal minority on so many issues and the lawyers don’t care about right or wrong, moral or immoral, all they want is the money regardless of what it does to the very fiber of our Constitution. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond Beth Ann. Have a super weekend.
