The Fourth Of July

The Fourth of July should remind us not, of parties and indulgences, but of  how and why it came to be our defining moment. I do hope that you all will have a healthy and happy Fourth, and remember that ALL of the amendments to the Constitution were added with the rights of the citizen in mind..

God Bless America,

Jake.

Disarm the citizen: Empower the government

Disarm the citizen: Empower the government

The Fourth Of July

Picnics, parades and fireworks

it all sounds like so much fun,

but do we ever stop to think about

how it was all begun?

Brave men and true, of honor

spoke out against the throne

to demand the rights of freedom

that every man should own.

Freedom from the tax man’s burden

and from government intrusion

freedom to worship their god of choice

for all, without exclusion.

Freedom of the written word

to be spread about the land

and freedom to express oneself

without fear of reprimand.

Free to travel where ‘ere they will

and to keep and bear their arms

to protect themselves and loved ones

their commerce and their farms.

But speeches, did not win the day

nor liberty for this nation

it took the blood of many a good man

to achieve their grand creation.

And so when your party’s over

when you’ve had your day of fun

remember that we owe it all

to the patriot and his gun.
