The God Of War

    An historic perspective!

~ Peace is but a fleeting thing,

but war is evermore

for mankind is a beast at heart

with blood lust at its core.~

Jake.

On wings of death the god of war appears.

On wings of death the god of war appears.

The God Of War

From the dawn of time and the birth of man,

to the powerful and the weak,

to Barbarian and Samaritan

the god of war did speak.

From rocks and spears and arrows flung

to sword and rifled ball,

from cannon to machine gun

to a bomb, which may kill us all.

The god of war is insatiable

and feeds off mankind’s lust,

for blood and pride and victory

and what’s perceived as just!

*

How many now lie in unknown graves

upon some field or plain?

For too, the hands of time do march

still the god of war remains!

Forgotten now are some of those

who gave their blood and final breath,

to whatever cause there may have been,

the god of war brought death!

Now the silence echoes o’er those fields

louder than the guns.

Gone now from there is the god of war,

but on some other field, blood runs!
