A Wizard’s Revenge

I think we should start off the weekend with a little bit of good-natured humor, wizard style. This is an older poem that I have, again, revised for your reading pressure pleasure.

     Have a terrific weekend everyone,

A Wizard’s Revenge

With crescent moons

and golden stars,

the wizard’s cap be donned.

But, the mystery bade

by the wizard’s trade,

lay in his words and wand.

For with but a wave

came a puff of smoke,

and things would disappear!

Or perhaps they’d arrive

in the blink of an eye,

from places far and near.

Though be it exotic

or more commonplace,

all were so hard to explain.

When the wizard was heard

to utter a mystical word,

that may have come from the land of Spain.

Abracadabra! I’ve heard it said

could summon powers,

beyond your belief.

Used only for joy

though not as a toy,

and forbidden its use to cause grief!

But, that was until

the one fateful day

when the wizard was treated unkind.

Without any respect”

he’d later reflect,

as this thought then invaded his mind.

Why should so be I

a wizard so great

with magic at my beck and command

be treated that way

when one word I could say,

and fling him off to some foreign land?”

But, the wizard devised

a more devilish plan,

to inflict on his victim that day!

With that word and wand’s wave

came a curse to the grave,

of a mother-in-law arriving to stay!
