I was looking through the vault for something to post for the weekend, and after shaking off the dust I came across this moldy-oldie and I thought to myself * this will be perfect for this time of year. It was originally one of my legendary song lyrics, but has now been relegated to the poetry side of the ledger. I hope you have some fun with it and know that; (1) yes, I love football on the weekends. (2) I love darn good barbecue. (3) Ahhhh beer. (4) I’m too old and out of shape for softball, any day of the week. (5) Ahhhh chili. (6) I don’t fish, I don’t play “billiards” and I certainly ain’t goin’ into the woods to hunt when there is a perfectly good meat counter at my local grocery store. (7) NASCAR, (NO ACCIDENTS SURELY CREATE ANGRY REDNECKS**) is not my cup of tea. (8) I do love, my friends all near and ice cold beer and ……..YOU!

I LOVE IT! Having lived in Race City (Mooresville, NC) for over 9 years I had the privilege of going to a few NASCAR races. It was a privilege because we knew a guy. A guy with a lot of money and a generous heart who had a luxury box filled with food and drink and away from the redneck crowd. The best way to watch a race (other than from a recliner), imho. Ah…memories.
YOU ARE WELCOME! But, NASCAR from a luxury box? You’ve got to be kidding me? You were deprived of the ambiance that IS the experience, the smell, the noise, the spilled beers, the colorful companionship of the grandstand or the infield if you’re really lucky..
