I’ve written a few poems recently with a theme.. Backyard Fun.. They are all very much tongue in cheek, but I think that you will have some fun with them. This one, (the grill) has a funny sideline to it. After spending six plus hours assembling it,(worst instructions ever, 36 steps in schematic form, with no words) the final pieces to be attached were the covers, and on the final cover was a sticker, listing all of the features that the grill had, and at the very bottom of the sticker, in very small print it read; free assembly available.. Thanks a lot. They couldn’t have put that on the box? Arrrgh.
Take the time to smile at someone that you don’t know today. (But be careful)
Sincerely,
Jake.
Backyard Fun
(The Grill)
Oh, what a thrill
to assemble a grill,
with nothing better to do
for six hours.
But, just as I was done
away, went the sun,
and left me to curse
the rain showers.

I will think of you when we do our first grilling of the season tonight!!! Poor Jake. But what a lovely poem…..
I’m happy to hear that you will finally have weather that is conducive to outdoor cooking.. As far as the poem is concerned, I stretched the truth a bit.. It didn’t rain after the assembly, but my wife had given up hope for anything of the grill that evening, and put something in the oven.. But the rest of it is the truth.. More or less.

but u knew that right?
Oh, yeah.. “Fire, meat, cook, eat” and cold beer as needed, to avoid dehydration. Now those are the simple instructions that almost any man can follow.

Nothing better in summer!
“Some assembly required” are fighting words in my book. I bet you miss summer already, huh?

Haha, no, it’s just going into winter. Chilly mornings and evenings, but I like it. The days are lovely – perfect!
I know I love autumn here in New England, except that it is followed by the dreaded winter.. Jeff Foxworthy, the comedian says this about New England: ‘When you know the four seasons as; almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you’re from New England’ He hit the nail right on the head with that one. Enjoy the season whichever it may be Denise.

Hahaha, good one, Jake!
Actually Denise now that it is done, it is working just fine so far, we’ve had limited opportunity to experience its potential. But soon..
