The Golden Age Of Rap

Those of you that have been with me for a while know that I am a somewhat unaccomplished and untalented song writer, and you may have read this one before, (but now it has been edited and allegedly improved upon) and you know that it is my contention that anyone can write a RAP song, and here is my proof..

Have fun for as long as you can,

I put the "C" in RAP

I put the “C” in RAP

The Golden Age Of Rap

Now, when you get old

and your hair turns gray

and you start to reflect

on your younger day.

You’ll think about all

those things you did,

when you were a bright-eyed

bushy haired kid.

Then you’ll wonder what happened

and when it occurred

how your life flew by

just like a bird.

Now you wake up in the morning

and your body just aches,

and you know when it’s time,

for a bowl of bran flakes.

And remember these things

when you get up,

you gotta take your dentures

from out of the cup.

And you gotta take your pills,

so you will feel better,

and even in the summer,

you’ll be wearing a sweater.

Now if your income’s fixed

how come you’re broke?

Isn’t that some sort

of very cruel joke?

You worked all your life

so you could retire,

but you gotta race to do it,

before you expire!

Then they say you’re too old

to drive your car,

just because you drove it through the window

of your local bar.

And now it’s your wife’s knees

that are holding up her breasts

and you’re both making plans

for your final rest.

So, remember these words

you’re about to hear,

these are the times

they call the “golden years”.

Well, you know they’re not gold

they’re not even brass,

and now you know why I’m grumpy,

so kiss my ass.

Brilliant, Jake! I love it and can verify that it is, in fact, all true!

    • Yeah Denise, it was written from a first person perspective, to be sure. But you’ve (gotta) have fun, no matter which stage of life you are in, if not, you’ll just get grumpier at a younger age. lol.. I hope you are well and that your autumn is being kind to you..

  2. Sally says:

Ok if we women have somethings that point more south as we age then what happens to men…..I would love to know what you think/know…other than that omission your rap is “right on “!

  3. And what, pray tell, is wrong with wearing a sweater in the summer??? 🙂

    • Sorry, where you live, at least for this year it would seem, you may need aPARKA* this summer.. *PARKA: The Boston pronunciation of a person who hasplaced his or her automobile in a spot for a indeterminateperiod of time. (I hope they put money in the METAH..) OR:The Boston pronunciation of thefamily name of actress, Sarah Jessica Parker..
