Drink up lads for tomorrow we, ______(fill in the blank)

Saint Paddy’s Day

As sure as Saint Patrick

did drive out the snakes,

an Irishman raises

a glass and partakes,

of a drink to his name

and is likely to pray,

whilst wearin’ the green

on Saint Paddy’s Day.

Oh, it’s for sure they’ll all come

the O’Briens and Sheas

McCormicks, Delaneys,

and Casey and Hayes.

The O’Tooles and O’Rourkes

will come out no doubt,

and all in fine voice

once wetted, with stout.

While the Donnellys and Conleys

Byrons and Dalys,

will all get their tune-ups

with shots of the Bailey’s.

But, ’tis not just the Irish

who’ll be wearin’ the green,

if you give a close look

you’ll see what I mean.

There are Guidos and Pablos

and a few we’ll call “ski”

a Sven and a Yuri,

all wearin’ green now, you see.

There are Grecians and Romans

 and even some from Cathay,

but, all of them Irish

on Saint Paddy’s Day.

 Just imagine the brogues

you’ll be likely to hear,

from a Rubinowitz or a Rahjib

when full of green beer!

But one thing’s for certain

once they’ve gone their own ways,

they’ll be Irish once more,

next Saint Paddy’s Day.
