The Age Of Drugs

As all of my files are with the computer I really only have a few relatively new poems, that have not experienced the full editing process, but I’ll give you one today regardless.. Please be mindful that it is tongue-in-cheek, with a little bit of truth..

The "Hoolies"

C’mon baby, kick in..

The Age Of Drugs

I’m just sittin’ here chillin’,

but to my chagrin

it’s taking too long,

for that drug to kick in!

 It sure wasn’t that way

back when I was young,

and I would pop anything

just to join in the fun.

But you see, I’ve aged

and I’ve learned a lot,

so I only pop ’em now

for conditions I’ve got.

I’ve got one to calm down

when I get too wired,

and I got a five hundred “upper”

when I feel a bit tired.

I take one for arthritis

and two for my heart,

and one as a caution

when I think, it’s a fart.

I have some for my body

and two for my head,

but the purple one’s my favorite

when I get “lucky” in bed.

I take two in the morning

a yellow and a white,

and some I have with meals,

morning, noon and night.

But my biggest change

from back in the day,

 is it’s the pharmacist now,

who’s the “dealer”  I pay!
