I thought I would start off the new year with the final poem from last year. Finished on New Year’s Eve and posted on New Year’s Day. I am not sure why I started on this one in the first place, but as it went on I realized that we all know someone like those who are mentioned in the poem. Always with the negative comments, the proverbial wet blanket, the “downer” and the doomsayer, the cup is not only half empty, but it probably had a hole in it in the first place, person. Did you ever wonder why, that some folks are never happy, except, it seems, when others are miserable? I know I have written on this subject in the past, but I am fascinated by these people if only because I am the complete opposite and I just don’t get the pleasure that is derived by those who wallow in the negative. I am sure that there is a root cause to it, but I think that they are afraid of being happy, as if someone had ingrained in them that they have no right to be happy. Tell me what you think.
HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
When Negative Is The Norm
There are those who search for darkness
through the light.
There are those who seek a wrong
for every right.
There are those who opt for blindness
in place of sight,
and those, for whom misery only
And while their cloud of doom
hangs dark as night,
they fathom not
that they have plight.
For they contend their sky is blue
though just for spite,
but they dare not delve inside
to prove they’re right!
