This poem is dedicated to the Boston Red Sox and their 2012 Major League Baseball effort season..IT WAS HORRIBLE! No, even worse than that…IT WAS A DISGRACE. ‘Red Sox Nation‘ should be appalled at the events and performances surrounding this prestigious organization this year, (too numerous to mention here) that actually began in September of last year and have carried over to the present.
However, many baseball fans everywhere have had this experience at some time, or other, and some long-suffering fans, since the very beginning of their “love” for their team began. So, at the end of the poem, where I have Red Sox, you may mentally insert the name of your favorite team.
Ps. For the full effect, please read the last two lines, with the proper New England accent, ie. bummah, and summah!
I hope your Monday is marvelous,*
Jake.
The Summer Of My Discontent
Now it’s late in the season
and all hope is gone,
and nobody cares,
if the ballgame, is on.
*
The “boys of summer”
have failed at their task.
Would a little more pitching,
Have been too much to ask?
*
Or a hit, when it counted,
with runners on base?
But, a double-play ball,
was more likely the case.
*
And how ’bout that throw,
that was WAY off the mark?
That cleared all the bases,
and half of the park.
*
You can lay blame on the owners,
the manager, or bad luck.
But, you can’t blame the players,
it was the team that just sucked.
*
So all in all now this year,
was far worse than a bummer.
Thanks a lot, to the Red Sox.
“You Ruined My Summer!”
