Thoughts On The Aurora Tragedy

On Sunday I was thinking of the horror that had occurred in Aurora, Colorado late last week, and this poem came out of those thoughts. Also another poem seemed to follow in its path, and I would like to share them both with you today. The first poem is about the tragedy itself and the circumstances that put people in the wrong place at the wrong time, and how it could happen anywhere, at anytime, to any of us, and how we must be ever-vigilant no matter how innocuous the situation may appear, there is always the potential for danger, brought on by insanity..

The second poem is about the inevitable cry for gun control, and the attempt to restrict the 2nd amendment rights of Americans to bear arms. The old saying, “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” is evident in the message of this poem. I personally do not own a gun, but I support the “Right” to keep and bear arms as provided us by the Constitution of the United States of America.

May God have mercy on all of those involved, including the alleged shooter, he may need it the most!

Jake.

Ps. Today there came to me a third poem on the subject, so it is included here also. In these poems I refer to a lack of sanity, a ghoul, and a savage, all of which appear to be relevent, though perhaps may be seen as harsh, if so, for that I apologize.

Death Goes To The Movies

Midnight showing

Technicolor glowing

anticipation growing.

Explosions blowing!

*

Batman screening

people screaming

children weaning.

Death without meaning!

*

Innocents die.

We wonder why

the tears they cry

are not for you and I!

*

Anytime, anywhere

gather here, gather there

be aware.

Sanity’s rare!

Don’t Blame The Tool

 It is not the gun,

but the gunner.

It’s not the bomb,

but the bomber.

It’s not the poison,

but the supplier.

And it’s the arsonist,

not the fire.

Don’t blame the tool,

blame the ghoul!

The Tears I Weep

The tears I weep

are sorrowful tears

shed for the innocent

of the few, or many years.

Together bound

in eternal passage

they went not in peace

but by the savage.

Jack, I read about the incident warlier. An unfortunate incident. With regard to your post for the day, as always, this is great. The second part was fantastic to be because I am able to relate to it and very relevant. Thanks Jack 😃
