A Walk Amongst The Ancients

I have refrained from posting any political poems  for a while, but today I think I will delve back into the subject a bit.. The following is just my opinion on where the United States has gone, and possibly worse, where it is headed. We have forgotten what the “Founding Fathers” fought and died for, and the documents that they crafted (ie. the Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution) were intended for posterity. It was meant to be the ‘law of the land’ and not merely suggestions to be altered on a whim by politicians, lawyers, and political activists for personal gains or agendas. At the core of all of the above documents was the ‘will of the people’ and by that, it was meant to be the “majority” who would decide on any changes that they felt to be necessary, and not the “vocal minority” who would  yell and scream and use those very documents to further their own personal causes. It is not too late, but we are at a critical point in our history, we must insist that government adheres to that ‘will of the people’ and listen to what the majority of Americans want, and let the lawyers be damned.

     Please read and heed,

Jake.

Boston’s Old Granary Burial Ground

A Walk Amongst The Ancients

As I walked amongst the ancients,

I sensed they, the hallowed there,

and the names on stones from long ago,

screamed out, in great despair.

Wherest gone, which we devoted to,

why still, is it not here?

We gave our all for freedom’s sake,

and all’s now lost, we fear!”

For it is now the few, with voices raised,

who demand the greater say.

‘Twas not that way envisioned,

on Independence Day!”

 *

Nor was it framed, that those who share,

a Godless point of view,

should force their will, upon the many.

If then that be, indeed, all’s lost and through!”

For beyond the first, all further laws,

by government, hence enacted,

have altered then our purpose,

and liberties, thus retracted!”

There’s but one chance to righten,

and shift from what’s astray.

You must heed our words, and vote by God,

Whence comes Election Day!”

  1. We’ve exchanged a king for megacorps and banksters.

    • Bruce Springsteen has a new song out “Shackled and Drawn” seems highly appropriated to me…We must throw off the chains of obam.. I mean oppression.
