Part two of the Jacob Grey saga, (which was part one initially) and this poem tells of the finders of at least some of his buried treasure, what they went through to get it and the outcome. Finders, keepers is the law in a child’s world, but in real life, not so much. Power and might use the iron hand in a velvet glove to take what they want, regardless of right or wrong.
The poor stay poor and the rich get richer, seems to be a familiar theme.
Have a wishful Wednesday everyone,
Jake.
THE TREASURE OF JACOB GREY
The treasure chest,
was quite well hid,
deep, in the cave on shore.
Placed with care,
and traps, to snare,
a probing soul, afore.
*
Well thought, ahead,
the owner had,
planned, in full detail.
And it is said,
his cohorts dead,
the site, could not reveal.
*
Some, think the pirate,
Jacob Grey,
had sailed, about this place.
And his treasure here,
would show it clear,
indeed, he walked this space.
*
When discovered,
the wooden chest,
had excited, hope and awe.
Who would share,
the riches there?
And what, would say the law?
*
The law it seems,
would not be kind,
to the finder’s, great dismay.
All the dreams,
of wealth, it seems,
would soon, be dashed away.
*
For the Crown, by God,
would claim it full,
and not, a sovereign, spare.
The King in name,
would stake the claim,
and dissenters, best beware.
*
The discoverers left,
with just a tale,
to relate, for food and drink.
Live out their days,
in a drunken haze.
While the King, wears robes of mink.
