Sports In Haiku

Here’s my first attempt at “Haiku”

of which, I have nary a clue

so when you have finished

and my stature’s diminished

well, I had nothing better to do..

Non-critical comments gracefully accepted..All others get trashed..

Let us all have a fun-filled Friday,

Jake.

SPORTS IN HAIKU

Ebony colored

racing faster than the wind

her’s the winner’s purse

Sundays still abound

with football in the autumn

hooray for the fall

…………………………………………………….

Frozen rubber disk

sails past the goaltender’s glove

red light glows again

If you like haiku please feel free to visit ‘the zen space’ http://thezenspace.wordpress.com – there’s nothing we can do about the limerick, I’m afraid! 😀

    • Yeah I know the Limericks perfect. Right? lol I’m not sure if Haiku is my cup of tea or scotch or sake, whatever. But I wil check out your website..Thanks for commenting and visiting.

  3. I’ve found that for such a “simple” type of poem, Haiku are kind of hard to write. You did a nice job here – the first and last are sort of like riddles, too. Even if they weren’t any good, the funnies in the rest of the post would have more than made up for it. 😉 (Just kidding. They really were good.)

    • I was about to say…”even if they weren’t any good”? I did say it was my first attempt at it, didn’t I?… I hope your not a first grade teacher, you could scar a kid for life with that kind of attitude. I can hear it now. “Hey little Johnny, don’t give up the day job.” “What? You don’t have a day job? What kind of layabout freeloader are you?” Try construction, janitorial services, or auto-mechanical stuff, anything but Haiku! Cause you suck at it!!” And don’t go cryin’ to mama cause she don’t want to hear your whinin’ either..   I could go on and on and on. lol Thanks for the comment, (I think)

You? Jake of poems and ponderings? Worried about criticism? My, my, what has this blog come to lol. For the record; sporty haikus was definitely a first.

    • Am I trending yet??? I am after all a trail blazer..No?

      • sheilabmarie says:

Trail blazer….hmm, have to think on that one. Turn it into a poem and I’ll get back to you!! Hey, that might actually work….” Jake of blazing trails in the kingdom of wordpress” oh boy I can see it now.
