I am experiencing an unusual feeling lately, one that I am disturbed about and hope that it does not become permanent. A nonchalant, laissez faire, ho-hum, hum-drum attitude about my poetry, and by extension, my blog.  I am not aware of any particular event that may have triggered the onset, but something has caused my attention to be diverted from the creative to the mundane. I started a poem two weeks ago and right out of the gate it went very well, everything fell into place and was moving along nicely, then my mind picked up on another subject and a new shorter poem was born. However, the original poem has sat unfinished for a fortnight, and nothing else of any creativity has come out of me either. I have become complacent about writing and publishing, and it is being reflected in my stats and my comments section and I am feeling uncreative and I always seem to be pressed for time. If anyone has a suggestion(s) as to a remedy, please feel free to offer your advice..
The following is from last month, before the “mood” set in and it reminds us that every morning we should be thankful for another day and that no matter how bad we may have thought yesterday was, we survived it.
Wishing for all a wonderful Wednesday,
Jake.
Good Morning Yesterday
 When you have awakened
in the morning,
surviving, through the night,
then fair it is, for you to say
yesterday, had turned out right.
*
 Then turn your thoughts
to the brand new day,
not to bring you down in sorrow,
and may that, as you said of yesterday,
speak the same, upon the morrow.

Hey Jack! I lost my blog mojo a few months back, so I understand what you’re talking about. I recommend not feeling obligated to post every day. Write when you feel inspired…and don’t write when you aren’t. Simple!
When life settled down a little for me, I regained the joy of blogging–but I only post when I feel I have something to contribute…the pressure is definitely off.
Good luck! xo
Thanks Pearl, it might just be that simple, but I feel obligated to myself to put “something” together and it was going fairly well, for quite a while, then Je ne c’est quoi..But thanks I appreciate all of your help from day one to the present.. Sean is on his way I understand, it will be great to see him..Give all of our love to everyone okay..Hope to see you all soon.. love, Jake.

In my humble opinion, you always have something to contribute, thanks again for your sage advice.
Jake.
I agree with Pearl that sometimes you need to not feel the pressure to post every day. When it stops being fun to post then it is time to step back and recharge!! We will all still be here if you only post once in a while! I am amazed that you post as much as you do–where does it all come from??? I think it is easier for me because I have several days that are always planned for me–Teapot Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday —that leaves fewer days to have to worry about being witty. 🙂 It will be fine whatever you do! And I loved today’s post, as usual. Good on ya.
When I need a sounding board or advice on blogging I know I can count on you and Pearl. You are both mentors and sources of strength and common sense for me. Thanks so much for being there. I’m hoping it is/was only a temporary thing. Lots of stuff going on right now, but as usual, I thank you for your support and friendship. Jake.

Stuff tends to get in the way. Just roll with it, buddy, and you will be back in top blogging form when it is time!!! And I hardly can think of myself as mentor…ha!!! That made me laugh!
We are all mentors, in one way or another. Whether we like it or not. Thanks for everything Beth Ann..
Well I DON’T like it!!! Just kidding!!!! You know I thought was pretty cool….right?
Happy Morning Jake. Hope you are doing fine and recovering from the swing. You have a great day and stay focus. Regards !!!
Thank you so much Michael, it’s always nice to hear from you..May your day be superb, as well.
I just wanted to say that maybe your mind needs a mental break? You have a great blog here and I always enjoy your poetry! Top of the morning to you!!
Thank you Eva, I took a few days off from work last week and I skipped a couple of days of posting. My mind hasn’t been actively working on my poems, or my ponderings for that matter, and I thought if I just stepped back a little it would help. Perhaps it will, but the time required, as you know, to put out something that you are satisfied with, has been limited lately. But, I have got to get myself back on track and start thinking again..So thanks again for your very flattering and encouraging words. Jake.

I’m sure people understand that people of such advanced years….But you haven’t forgotten that $50, right ?
Now how could I forget that $50 I lent you? When do you think you can get it back to me?

I tried to leave off until I felt inspired, but it just made me feel guilty and lazy. Trouble is I NEED to write. I have eased the pressure though and I am doing other things as well, but now and then I do get the urge to write more. And I try to obey it…
Wow your first sentence described my feelings to a Tee..Guilty and Lazy.. So true.. With me I think it is time allotment, I need to tell myself, put all the “crap” out of your mind and relax, it will come.. Thanks Denise you’ve been a great help. Jake.

I hope by now you’ve been able to escape from the grasp of that feeling. I too have been out of the “loop”. I know how easy it is to just ‘put it off’ or take some time away, but i also feel that the longer i am out, the harder it seems to jump back in. I wish i had advice, but the only thing ive been able to derive is that your creative side cannot elude you forever if you still hold the desire in you somewhere. Hope that maybe possibly perhaps has some usefulness to it for you? Best wishes as always
Time usage, has been more of an issue I think, than the creative aspect. And as you know, and I have said, ‘the best work of the poet and songwriter, usually require the least of it’,,, but we need time, to literally or figuratively, close our eyes and see. Thank you again for your support and comments, it means a lot to me. Best wishes for a spectactular Sunday, Jake.
