Dopey

In keeping with the theme mentioned in yesterday’s post, another of the seven..I must say that they are not all light and humorous. This would be an example.

I am hoping for a tremendous Tuesday for us all,

Jake.

Dopey

 He smoked his first joint,

about fifteen years old,

Mexican weed,

‘Alcapulco gold.’

Then ‘hash-oil‘ on the papers,

of the ‘doobies’ that he rolled.

And at sixteen he changed,

with the first bag he sold.

~

Now, a big man on campus,

was what he became,

and if you wanted some weed,

he was the name.

But, he seemed to forget,

that dealing wasn’t a game.

Now he’s doing “State-time”,

in a three-to-five frame.

  1. Perhaps half of US 1.3 million in prison are for small amounts of pot or other substance esp when 3rd conviction for some felony. Since drug possession, however meager, takes precedent they free rapists and second or third degree murderers to make room due to over crowding. Makes a whole lot of sense to put a father in jail making his family homeless, eh? Dopey has a cousin: Smugglely.

    • I was thinking the other day.(I usually try to do that at least once a week)…  I have deep concerns about a government that tries to protect us from ourselves, yet offers us no protection, from government. You cannot legislate morality, it simply doesn’t work. Never has, never will.. Capitalism, the very foundation of our society, relies on supply and demand. There is obviously a demand, so why isn’t the government getting its “piece of the action” from the suppliers as they do in all other areas of commerce?
