A House Divided

Lately, it seems that I have been obsessing with greed and greedy people. This is the first of two poems of a similar nature, “Estate Greed” as I like to call it, is far more prevalent than you would think. Tomorrow, ” My Worldly Goods”  I hope you will like them both.

 Oh it’s, a family rare,

that does not, have it’s share,

of acrimony, and of contention.

 And that, is usually due,

except, for cases few,

because, of someone requiring, more attention.

 But, by far the worst,

and those deserving, of a curse,

they, who have not feel, for sorrow.

And for a share, of an estate,

the other’s grief, will have to wait,

they’ll have their piece, no later than the morrow.

  1. Beth Ann says:

Interesting that you are focused on greed these days!!! I am happy to say that when working on this estate thing here we have been pretty much all in tune with what needs to be done and making sure that things are “fair”. But I have seen it go the other way in other families and it is hard to get past bitter feelings in that case. Great thoughts today, Jake!

    • Thanks Beth Ann,we have experienced it first hand, and it is incomprehensible to me howself-oriented, some people can be. I will say, that with great creditto my wife,(Beth)the fences seem to have been mended. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Jake.

  2. adeeyoyo says:

Greed and selfishness are so closely related, Jake.

  3. Unfortunately I’ve experienced this, too. It is an ugly thing indeed.

    • It is indeed hard to fathom and I know they should be felt sorry for, but while it is happening disbelief and disdaincome before all else. I hope all is wellin regard tothat situation for you now.
