Strings

Just a couple of thoughts I had this week. Does anyone remember YoYos anymore? Oh, and what about kites? Yeah, I see the occasional kite, although it is usually some high-tech thig-a-ma-jig. Not just the flimsy paper, stretched between two crossed sticks, with some kind of a rag on the bottom end required as a stabilizer tail, kind of kite, that I seem to have crashed on almost every attempt. What about puppets, are there any Marionettes left? I remember Howdy Doody, Clarabelle, Phineas T. Bluster, Punch and Judy, etc. etc. (Wait a minute, were Punch and Judy marionettes or hand puppets?) I will need some verification on that, if anyone knows. The point being all were controlled or operated by strings…

However, when applied to Humans, the three take on entirely different meanings. He/she is as high as a kite… He/she is a real YoYo. And finally, and I believe the saddest, he/she is just so and so’s puppet, and with that, there are always “strings” attached.

This Saturday is yours. Seize the Day.

Jake.

Strings

Yoyos, puppets and kites,

each possess their own
string.

While one, strives for great
heights,

as high, as a bird on the
wing.

And another content with
mundane.

repeats then the ride, up and
down.

But, the puppet by far, more
restrained,

as it’s will, by the string
be bound.

I like this post, Jack. Btw, the more we re-act to circumstances, people, etc. the more puppet-like we become with others ‘pulling the strings’…

  2. YoYos . Oh sure. Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman.
