This is another of those that I wrote as a song lyric, I could hear Johnny Cash (God rest his soul) in that baritone (or more likely bass) voice of his. Think about that as you read it. Thanks.
Have a gratefully free, Saturday,
Jake.
Understand Your Freedom
I have seen a lot, of this great land.
I’ve been free to travel,
free to stay, just where I am.
But, it’s more about the freedom,
than the land.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
Now, I’ve never held much money, in my hand,
but, so long as I am free,
I’ll be a wealthy man.
Because, freedom’s in your heart,
not in your hand.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
I am free to vote, for any man,
or woman, who I think,
will understand.
That, they are there to serve,
at our command.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
I am free, to speak my mind, to any man.
I’m free, to read from books,
that can’t be banned.
But, there’s no such thing,
as freedom, on demand.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
There may come a time, when you must,
make a stand.
To defend, and protect, this hallowed land.
But, it’s more about the freedom,
than the land.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
Understand.
Understand, your freedom.
Understand.
Dec. 2008
I don’t know why, but I am compelled to send a note to “Big Oil.” Perhaps it’s the onset of cooler weather or just the price of a gallon of gas, that they have tricked us into thinking $3.65 or so, is not so bad compared to $4.00+ of last year.
NOTE TO OIL COMPANIES (and big business in general):
Capitalism, is not one of the “SEVEN DEADLY SINS” but, AVARICE is!!
Signed,
A concerned citizen. (How’s that for anonymity?)
Jake.
Agreed. Freedom is a virtue meant to do us good. The moment freedom becomes something else it aint freedom no more (try slavery).
Freedom, most assuredly is not a gift to man. But rather, a hard fought right of man.
Thank you for your visit and your astute analysis.
Jake.
Freedom is everyone’s dream, also, it is important to understand the proper definition of it.
great take, smiles.
