Reception for the Stranger

No long introduction for this one. Just something to ponder. (Afterall, this is poemsandponderings.)

Don’t let your Monday be manic,

Reception for the Stranger

I stole a look, across the room,

to see, who’d just come in.

Who could it be, I asked myself,

who caused the noisy din?

But, I could not tell, from where I stood,

just whom, that it might be,

and found, that I was wishing,

that sometime, it may be me.

But, a reception of that type, and kind,

would, surely cause my head to swell.

I never learned, who it was for,

and perhaps, it’s just as well.

For if I knew, who entered then,

and for them, I did not care,

would it not, more bother me,

that, no one cheered, when I got there?
