On Monday August 1st, through Friday August 5th, 2011, I will post poems that I have written that relate to Native Americans. All of which are intended to be sympathetic, and show the native peoples as they were and are. (As best as I could). And the
effects devastation the white man brought down on them in the name of colonialism, expansionism, and ‘Manifest Destiny’.
On Monday “The Mother of Earth”, on Tuesday “The Trail of Life”, on Wednesday, “The Elders and the Giver of Dreams”, on Thursday, “Aliens”, and on Friday, my latest attempt “Death Wears a White Face” (inspired by a recent blog from “It’s Just Life” @ wordpress.com) I hope you will look deep into what we have done and appreciate what they have lost. Not all of them have casinos on their reservations, many, many are ‘ghetto poor’ and deserve more from our government than foreign countries, that we seem to favor with billions of dollars every year.
The best of Saturdays to us all,
Ps. I awoke this morning with new thought for this post, so I will now be posting through next Saturday Aug. 6th, 2011. It was completed very quickly (my favorite kind, not a lot of heavy thinking) and as yet remains untitled. I know some of you have already visited and may not return today, but I trust you will come back tomorrow (PLEASE), and will be informed of the changes to the schedule.
