The Mother of Earth

I can’t remember if I published this before, and I’m too lazy to go back and look through the archives. So I’ll take the easy way out and post (or re-post) it anyhow.

With all the crazy weather that we have experienced recently, this seemed appropriate. “Mother Nature” will always be a force to be reckoned with. (Is that a dangling participle?)

The Mother of Earth

The wind is my enemy,

but, it’s child is my friend.

And the clouds, may be either,

for they change with the wind.

 When peaceful, they’re shade,

and provide rain for our food.

 Yet, when they are angry,

 they harbor no good.

For the rain that they bear,

 will nurture the fields,

 or wash them away,

with the force that they wield.

 Yes, the Mother holds beauty,

 but, violent can be.

 She’ll give us the rose,

yet, the wrath of the sea.

 The rage that she brings,

 can cause perish and harm,

 in the village or valley,

 on mountain or farm.

 And no haven be found,

 from the torrents and gales.

 The Mother of Earth,

 shall forever, prevail.
