Just a few thoughts for today!
Temper honesty with judgement.
For the truth can be,
more hurtful, than the lie.
Why do we lie? That’s a fair question, I think.. We lie for many reasons, for personal gain, to protect our fragile egos, to prevent or defer embarrassment, and even sometimes, on rare occasions I’m afraid, to protect someone else’s feelings.
And what is a lie? According to Webster’s New World Dictionary a lie is; to make a statement that one knows is false (vt) and as a noun; a false statement made with intent to deceive…Okay then, what about the fib? Again in Mr. Webster’s opinion, a fib is; a small or trivial lie. My question is this; can we really put a value on lying? Who are we, to determine what is or is not trivial or grand? So I have come up with my own interpretation of the words..Move over Mr. Webster, Mr. Downing is here!!!
***
The one and only difference,
between the fib and lie,
is by whom, that it was uttered.
Your lying self, or I.
Have a superlative Saturday everyone,
Jake.
